Judging
from his wide fan base, including the U.S., Puerto Rico, Dominican
Republic, Colombia, Venezuela and Panama to name a few, it is
obvious that his perceptions of society are universally understood
in every sense of the word.
Secreto
put himself on the map with his 1997-1998 smash hit "Tumba
La Casa" which won him an ACE award. Since then, he has been
on the cutting edge of the Meren-House, Latin Reggae and Latin
Hip-Hip scenes. With his trademark derby hat and one-of-a-kind
rap style, he is leading this movement out of the underground
depths and into its next transitional stage which is the Latin
Music Mainstream. Many have tried to imitate him but have failed.
It is difÞcult to follow in the footsteps of an artist that
has a track record of over 500,000 units sold.
Born
in Santo Domingo and raised in Brooklyn, few realize that Secreto
was a baseball player alongside Sammy Sosa in the minor leagues.
During that time Secreto decided that music is where he would
make his lasting mark. He has recorded re-mixes with many known
artists such as Kinito Mendez "El Loco Soy Yo," Zafra
Negra "Llorando Por Ella," Maricely's bachata "Killing
Me Softly," Allen St's 2x2 "The Way You Shake It,"
El General "La Bamba" and La Banda Loca's "Sammy
Sosa La Boto." These songs have been heard all over the world
and Secreto's unique rap style was the extra touch for the extra
punch.
Secreto
has been busy acting as well. He started with a small part in
a SAG movie "Buscando Un Sueno" in 1998. Since then
he had a substantial part in the soon to be released Paramount
movie "Shaft Returns." Featuring Samuel L. Jackson,
Vanessa Williams and Busta Rhymes. Directed by John Singleton.
Once again he is featured wearing his one of a kind derby hat.
His fans will be very surprised.
In
early 2000 he will be releasing his long awaited solo debut entitled
"Por Fin Llego..." This features songs such as "Sopresas,"
"Ya La Casa Se Rompio," "Condom," "Mujer
Celosa" which is a Reggae/ Rap collaboration with the legendary
EL GRAN COMBO de PUERTO RICO who made this song a worldwide timeless
classic. An honor never before bestowed on anyone till now. This
will deÞnitely go down in history. Two merengues, arranged
by the famous Elvis Classe of LA BANDA LOCA, will have people
tearing up the dance ¦oors.. His fans will also Þnd
a mix of Latin Reggae & Latin Hip-Hop with an R&B feel.
Secreto's
rich story-telling and intense feeling of rhythm will capture
the spirit of everyone's soul. He masterfully combines Salsa and
Hip-Hop, Merengue and House with Reggae mixed in. He will inspire
and set standards in a genre of music that has not yet seen the
mainstream light. It seems everyone is waiting for SECRETO. How
about you? SSShhhhhhhhhh ... SECRETO is an exclusive recording
artist of COMBO RECORDS and COMBO RECORDS PRODUCTIONS
